Developing Market Telecoms Transformation
Our client is one of the largest Telecom service providers in the Middle East, with over 115 million customers worldwide and headquartered in Doha, Qatar. They have operations in 10 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, including Algeria, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Myanmar, Maldives, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, and Tunisia.
RP International has had a long working relationship with this client in Qatar, which spans over more than 15 years. We used this to broker a relationship with the North African & wider Middle East operations.
Our client initially requested RPI to search for a new CEO for their Algerian operations.
The Algerian operations needed urgent transformation. The brief was to identify a French speaking CEO (non-French national) who had the necessary skillset to boost the business right from the outset. The ideal candidate needed excellent diplomatic skills and solid experience of leading a Telecoms service provider in a large sized developing market through organisational transformation. The role required a candidate with superior commercial, people & government liaison skills. This was a complex brief to fulfil but RPI identified the perfect candidate through our extensive existing CXO network and robust referrals, which resulted in an offer.
Since placing the CEO in Algeria, RPI have been working on further opportunities for the client’s subsidiaries and have secured the placement of a CTIO in both their Kuwaiti and Iraqi businesses.
