Having completed an effective CTO market mapping project, RPI were retained to develop the Procurement function across Teliasonera’s Eurasia entities. Historically this had been the responsibility of each part of the business, with no central Procurement function.
Teliasonera made the decision to invest in a central Procurement Department in order to support a new strategy to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness across the Group. RPI mapped a talent pool of senior Procurement executives and Chief Procurement Officers that were both geographically mobile and had previous international experience.
RPI provided specialist resources to Teliasonera in four countries and on a retained basis working with the local country CEO and Group Procurement Vice Presidents of Azercell, NCell, Moldcell and UCell. A culturally sensitive region required candidates that were able to deal with and understand the local region and variances within their team.
Each CPO that was placed by RPI would go on to build their own team, sourcing team members and implementing new processes and procedures, aligned with group policy. This required specific team building experience for each role.
RPI were chosen for their established network and access to an international pool of resources, as well as a proven track record of niche market mapping on the scale required to cover all aspects of the project. RPI had the ability to support Teliasonera at all stages of the project, from the initial detailed mapping exercise, ongoing advisory capacity throughout the interviewing process, ultimately bringing fresh talent into the business.
All candidates provided by RPI had the specific experience required: technical procurement experience, in addition to previous experience of setting up a Procurement function.
The candidate profiles required were very specific, therefore providing Teliasonera with an adequate talent pool to cover four positions was challenging. However, RPI were able to draw on a strong established network of candidates which expanded and developed in line with the project
RPI continues to work in partnership with Teliasonera’s local teams providing specialist resources.
