IT Data Architect

Introduction:

IT Data Architect to be based in Hong Kong required for defining and maintaining the enterprise IT data architecture, governance and quality of the company’s BSS and IT data assets.

The role:

Our client seeks an IT Data Architect (reporting to Enterprise Architect) to drive the creation of the company information technology roadmap that defines the current and future data architecture. Alongside associated application and technical architecture, to provide the foundation for the realization of the corporate strategy objectives for the next 5+ years. Additional areas of responsibility include:

• Ensuring the enterprise data architecture meets the company's business needs and provides a progressive, flexible and secure IT environment.
• Manage stakeholders, both IT and the business, in building a holistic view of the organisation's data, and associated information technology assets and ensure this is propagated throughout the company.
• Assess and communicate the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits and opportunities of IT solutions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME), together with stewardship of architectural frameworks, methods, design patterns, and tools across the entire organisation.
• Ensure existing and planned projects align to architecture standards; work with the project solution architect to define project level data architecture.
• Ensure the relevant standards and reference IT architectures are used by the specific project teams in developing technical designs.
• Assess industry standards for architectural models, and incorporate them into the company’s architectural standards where appropriate.
• Maintain business information model and data flow architecture.
• Recognising areas for internal improvement and developing plans for implementing them.
• Defined the corporate data dictionary and ensure data quality and data governance across the enterprise.

Requirements:

• Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Computer Science. Engineering or Information Technology. Master’s degree a plus.
• 5+ years data architecture experience in complex business environments.
• 10+ years in IT.
• Strong background in data analysis and design in both operational and analytical environments, including associated best practice, methods and tools.
• Enterprise Architecture Certification is highly beneficial, such as IT Architect Certification, The Open Group Architect Framework Certification or a Master of Enterprise Architecture.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).
• Must be on the cutting edge of understanding the latest developments in enterprise data architecture.
• Prior experience and thorough understanding in developing Corporate Data Dictionary and associated governance.
• Prior experience and understanding in developing solutions for data warehouse, management reporting and marketing analytics.
• Understanding of best practices in meta-data management.
• Ability to present concepts/recommendations in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, facilitation, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving ability.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both business managers as well as technical developers.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including ability to convey architecture concepts visually.
