UAE telecoms firm du has enlisted the help of Ericsson to manage and operate its IT infrastructure, with the aim of optimising service quality and reducing time to market.
The Dubai-based operator hopes by handing Ericsson control of its service desk, data centre operations and user computing and enterprise system management processes, it will become "more lean and efficient in our operations."
In addition, Ericsson will manage IT application operations for du's Enterprise Support Systems as well as Operational and Business Support Systems.
Ericsson will also be responsible for IT security compliance for du's IT environment and support for all du's future IT infrastructure projects.
Ericsson said it will deploy its global tools, processes and ways of working on an end-to-end basis to improve du's infrastructure performance and support high-quality customer experiences.
In a joint statement, Jean-Claude Geha, Vice President and Head of Managed Services, Ericsson, said: "IT is moving to the forefront in managed services as operators seek to enhance customer experience with more tightly integrated networks and business processes."
He added that this new long-term partnership will "transform du's IT landscape" and help it achieve superior customer experience.
Farid Faraidooni, Chief Operations Officer, du, explained that IT systems play a vital role in operators' business process and service quality assurance.
Ericsson's solutions will enable it to stay ahead of the game by optimizing service quality and reducing time to market, Faraidooni said, while also streamlining its processes and becoming a more efficient organization.
