Etisalat is trying to position itself as a "one-stop IT superstore" as it looks to capitalise on a growing IT sector in the UAE, which is forecast to exceed Dh18 billion ($4.8 billion) by the end of the year, from about Dh17 billion last year.
The Abu Dubai-based firm has announced it is to collaborate with Kony, an enterprise mobility company, to provide enterprise customers with a rich collection of pre-built enterprise apps and app models, which can be used to assemble and configure secure, enterprise-grade mobile apps.
The operator will provide its customers with a full-spectrum of enterprise mobility solutions and enable strong integration capabilities supporting a range of complex enterprise applications.
"Etisalat is gearing towards becoming a one-stop IT superstore and offer customers with a rich set of cloud based solutions and applications which includes mobile solutions across the full Software Development Lifecycle, empowering businesses to securely design, build, configure, host and manage multi-edge mobile applications from a single codebase," said Salvador Anglada, chief business officer at Etisalat.
The company said its decision to partner with Kony was prompted by the rising popularity of tablet computers, which "provide computing power to the user with mobility."
"Kony's industry leadership will help us offer enterprises ready-to-run business mobile platform to better engage with their customers and help increase employee productivity, by enabling them to have access to company systems and information through their mobile devices," Anglada added.
To further facilitate adoption of enterprise mobile, Etisalat is creating a Centre of Excellence in the UAE for enterprise mobility, which will give businesses access to specialised consultants, operators and developers.
