Downloads of du app double following improvements

A well-designed app has the potential to transform a business; it helps to streamline processes and enhance efficiency, while supporting growth and boosting customer loyalty. Needless to say, in today's increasingly-connected, increasingly-mobile consumer market it has never been more important for businesses to create their own app.

Dubai-based telecom operator du is a great example of how apps can transform a business. After making major improvements to the design and functionality of its app in April this year, the number of consumer downloads has doubled, Trade Arabia reports. June alone saw downloads and active users grow by a notable 37%.

Increased adoption of the app has significantly improved du's services. In particular, it has resulted in a reduction of queues at du's stores and at its call centres, the company revealed. Customers are also able to save time by managing services and paying their bills via the app.

Senior executive officer of New Business and Innovation at du, Carlos Domingo, said the increasing adoption rate is testament to rising demand for digital tools that "place complete control in the hands of the customer, in the UAE."

Domingo further added: "Our aim is to give our valued customers a more convenient way of doing business with us – which is the reason that we're investing in our app. This is just the beginning, and it's fantastic to see such a positive response so early on."

Du paid a recent visit to Dubai Mall and Mall Abu Dhabi to ask shoppers to test its range of apps. After using it, 90% of shoppers said they would not return to the traditional way of managing and paying for services.
