1-Net Singapore is to open a new data centre, aiming to meet the demands of content digitisation in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region. The new data centre, called 1-Net North, is the first of its kind - it will be Singapore's first Tier III designed and constructed data centre to receive a certification from the Uptime Institute. Construction of the data centre is expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2015.
1-Net acknowledged the growing consumption of rich data in the Southeast Asia region and said that it wants to be the first to provide a specialised offering to companies that want to focus on digitised content. Once the data centre in Singapore is launched 1-Net will continue to expand and move into other Southeast Asia countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.
Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director of 1-Net Singapore, commented that there has been a noticeable shift in the way information is consumed and the way businesses engage with their customers. With the new 1-Net Data Centre, 1-Net aspires to become Asia's top data centre, he added.
1-Net's new data centre will be located in Marsiling. A team of highly skilled and experienced data centre experts will support the data centre, complementing its advanced capabilities. Moreover, 1-Net North will operate in compliance with the highest reliability and efficiency standards established by the Uptime Institute, the company said. To get its certification from the institute, the entire data centre will have to undergo testing for uninterrupted operation during maintenance activities.
