The international operating division of HKT PCCW Global, together with information and communications technology solutions provider Huawei, launched a new Global High Definition Video Communications Centre in Hong Kong this month, PCCW announced on its website.
The facility is located at Telecom House in Wanchai, Hong Kong and boasts the latest innovative HD calling, conferencing and collaboration solutions available on multiple devices (telepresence rooms, conferencing terminals, tablets and smartphones among them).
PCCW Global is among the first service providers in the world to offer a point-to-point cross-private network video calling service that makes communicating in HD as easy as making a traditional voice call. The service enables employees to call other video users within or outside of their organisation. No pre-set time or conference bridge arrangements are necessary.
The cloud-based High Definition Video Communications (HDVC) platform built by PCCW and Huawei offers service providers and multinational enterprises profitable deployment of video collaboration services that can transform business communications.
PCCW Global aims to make HDVC easy to access and use. The platform allows users across 130 countries to engage in a high-quality interoperable multipoint video conferencing and video calling experience.
The announcement included comments by Mao Yumin, vice president for Huawei Core Network Product Line, who said that the opening of the Global High Definition Video Communications Centre in Hong Kong will allow carriers and enterprises to take advantage of the opportunities offered by HDVC and enjoy a global reach on any device.
