IT Program Director

Introduction:

 Our client is embarking on an extensive IT architectural transformation over the next 3 years to establish service industry leading customer centric capabilities. Our client requires a driven and experienced Program Director to manage the end to end delivery of the transformation program. The resultant outcome being the realisation of a cutting edge IT architecture that enables both the ambitious growth strategy of the business, together with delivery of the underpinning customer centricity vision of the company.
The Program Director needs to ensure on-time, on-budget, and on-scope delivery of the many large scale projects that are encompassed in the 3 year IT transformation program.

The role:

• Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the program to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame and within budget parameters.
• Develop resource and sequencing plans to oversee all large scale IT projects. Manage critical path, dependencies, contingency, scope/change requests, and overall budget performance.
• Maintain and prioritizing list of issues afflicting project and pro-actively assuring their resolution through appropriate party (e.g., business SME, solution architect, infrastructure architect, software/hardware vendor, system integrator etc).
• Review proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases.
• Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure all projects progress on schedule.
• Reviews status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required.  Present status reports to Steering Committees and the Executive Leadership Team of the company.
• Evaluate and create review documents for changes to project scope.
• Perform program risk assessment and assist in evaluating and identifying controls for the risks. Maintain and closely monitor the program risk management plan.
• Ensure Project management methodology and tools are uniformly employed across organisation to effectively and consistently track and control all projects.
• Ability to work with multiple vendors/SIs to deliver on-time/ on-budget projects.
• Perform the role of IT Financial Controller – budgeting, forecasting, cost & financial reporting.
• Complying and enforcing standard company policies and procedures.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to the IT Project Managers.
• Recognising areas for internal improvement and developing plans for implementing them.

Requirements:

• Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Computer Science. Engineering or Information Technology. Master’s degree a plus.
• Project Management Certification.
• 10+ years of challenging, dynamic IT project/program management experience, including program management of an outsourced IT environment.
• 15+ years in IT.
• Extensive experience in large, complex Program Management and Business Process Management.
• Heavily influential and pro-active individual that can drive and motivate employees and external parties to deliver a time critical program of work.
• Experience and knowledge of managing large budgets.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both business managers as well as technical developers.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to communicate and put forward recommendations in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization.
